About the game

After years of Monster Hunter World and Rise setting the bar for the series on console and PC, Capcom saved its most ambitious card for Wilds. This isn't just another entry — it's the technological and design leap the franchise had been begging for over the past decade.

What it is

Monster Hunter Wilds is a cooperative action RPG where you build and gear up a hunter to track, fight, and take down giant creatures using the very equipment they drop when defeated. The big change is the setting: instead of fixed zones separated by loading screens, Wilds offers open, continuous regions where weather, terrain, and wildlife shift dynamically, forcing both monsters and hunters to adapt on the fly. On top of that sits a campaign with more narrative weight than usual, centered on the bond between the humans of these lands and the monsters that inhabit them, plus the classic up-to-four-player co-op for the toughest hunts.

Wilds' ecosystems shift weather in real time, and that changes how every monster behaves.

Current state

Wilds launched in 2025 on PC (along with consoles) and settled straight into the life cycle typical of a modern Monster Hunter: frequent balance patches, fixes for the PC performance issues that made noise at launch, and the steady drip of title updates and collab monsters Capcom has made a habit of since World. The player base remains solid, with the community organizing daily hunts and endgame gear farming while Capcom keeps adding seasonal content.

Why play it

It's the ideal entry point both for someone who's never touched a Monster Hunter and for the veteran who wants to see how far the formula has come. Combat remains as technical and satisfying as ever, with fourteen weapon types that feel radically different from one another, and now the hunt itself feels more alive: you chase a monster through a whole ecosystem that reacts along with you, not against a static backdrop.

If you're into squading up with the community to hunt beasts that look impossible to beat, WickedQuest will keep covering the best builds, events, and monsters in Wilds as Capcom keeps expanding the game.
